Infinix Zero 40 smartphone review
Infinix Zero 40 smartphone review: The Infinix Zero 40 4G and 5G were announced in August 2024 and went on sale the following month. The two smartphones are initially only available in Malaysia, but should be launched in other regions in Asia as well as the Middle East and Europe. As the name suggests, the Infinix Zero 40 4G only has 4G connectivity while the other variant has 4G and 5G connectivity.
The two smartphones have the same design language but come in different color options to offer more options to users. They have similar internal configurations and internal components, which Infinix believes will be enough to cover a wide range of consumers. Let’s start with a detailed review of Infinix Zero 40 and see if these smartphones are worth buying.

Design and display
The Infinix Zero 40 4G and 5G feature a curved design language, giving them a sleek look. At first glance, one might think that they are expensive, although they are not. This is partly due to the curved side frame and screen. The curved sides also provide a better grip, so they won’t slip out of your hands as easily.
The body of both phones is made of plastic but they are solid and do not creak or bend in any way. The Infinix Zero 40 4G and 5G also features an IP54 water and dust repellent design. As for the display, both phones feature the same 6.78-inch AMOLED display. However, the Infinix Zero 40 4G display supports a high refresh rate of up to 120Hz, while the Infinix Zero 40 5G display goes even higher with a high refresh rate of 144Hz.
Apart from that, both displays have FHD+ resolution and can display up to one billion colors. The screen on both phones can also reach a brightness of up to 1,300 nits, so you won’t have any problems using them outdoors. The Infinix Zero 40 4G is available in Misty Aqua, Rock Black and Blossom Glow colors, while the Infinix Zero 40 5G is available in Rock Black, Violet Garden and Moving Titanium.
Memory and internal
The Infinix Zero 40 4G is powered by the Mediatek Helio G100 4G chipset, which has a clock speed of 2×2.2 GHz. On the other hand, the Infinix Zero 40 5G is powered by the Mediatek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate 5G chipset and this chipset has a clock speed of 1×3.1 GHz. While both chipsets are fast enough to run all applications without problems, the Dimensity 8200 has more power, especially in games.
It can provide more FPS in games like PUBG Mobile, Summoners War, Black Desert Mobile, Genshin Impact, and CODm than the Mediatek Helio G100. But overall, both are quite capable and won’t let you down. It is also obvious that one is a 4G chipset and the other is a 5G chipset, which supports 5G connectivity for gigabit-level speeds.
Therefore, the Infinix Zero 40 5G phone can download movies at gigabyte download speeds and play online games with low latency. For RAM and storage, the Infinix Zero 40 4G comes in 8GB+256GB and 8GB+512GB RAM and storage variants. On the other hand, the Infinix Zero 40 5G comes in 12GB+256GB and 12GB+512GB RAM and storage variants.
The 5G model has more RAM in both storage variants. As far as the software side is concerned, the new smartphones run Android 14 with an XOS 14.5 UI, offering greater customization options.
Camera
Both the Infinix Zero 40 4G and 5G smartphones feature the same 108MP triple rear camera system. The 108MP main rear camera is adequately optimized to capture more photons than usual. Therefore, you can capture good photographs with high levels of detail, decent clarity, and natural colors. There is a secondary 50MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, which is as good as the main camera and can capture images with a wide 120˚ field of view with little to no color shift.
The third sensor is a 2MP depth camera, which is pretty useless and is just for show. On the front, both Infinix Zero 40 4G and 5G have the same 50MP selfie camera, which is quite capable. You can take selfies with high levels of detail and natural colors. While the cameras on the two smartphones are the same, they are configured differently when it comes to video recording.
The Infinix Zero 40 4G can record videos at a maximum of 1440P@30FPS from both the rear camera and the selfie camera. While the Infinix Zero 40 5G can record up to 4K@60FPS from both the rear camera and the selfie camera.
Battery and others
Both Infinix Zero 40 4G and 5G have the same long-lasting 5000 mAh battery, which can provide 1 to 2 days of battery life with low to medium usage including camera, YouTube, messaging, calling, and more. However, if you play a lot of games, the battery will drain faster and the smartphones may not last a full day.
However, both smartphones have 45W fast charging support, which can charge them to 50% in just 25 minutes. The Infinix Zero 40 5G also supports 20W wireless fast charging, which is not available on the 4G model.
Apart from that, both smartphones have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, an under-display fingerprint scanner, GPS, NFC, infrared sensor, and a USB Type-C port for charging. As for the price, the Infinix Zero 40 4G is available starting at $238 (Rs 19,990 in India) approximately. At the same time, the Infinix Zero 40 5G is available starting at $286 (Rs 23,990 in India) approximately.

Conclusion
The Infinix Zero 40 4G and 5G have the same Mediatek chipset inside the smartphone. They have similar designs but with different colors. They even have the same bright screen, the same camera hardware, and even the same battery capacity. The only differences are in the chipset, 5G and wireless charging.
The 5G smartphone’s chipset has almost twice the power of the 4G model, making it significantly more powerful in games. This, combined with the other two differences, sets them apart, although they are quite similar. However, their difference is not substantial enough for both to stand out.
Considering everything the Infinix Zero 40 4G has, the price is not justified and we cannot recommend it, but the price of the 5G model is fine. Therefore, you can choose the Infinix Zero 40 5G smartphone. However, if this phone is not yet available in your region, there is another alternative. The Motorola Edge 50 Pro has better features than the two Infinix phones here, including wireless charging, but the price is higher. However, the final decision is up to you, so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your requirements and needs.
