Design and display
In terms of design and visual changes, not much has changed with the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 compared to its predecessor. [[Mix Fold 3]]. However, you’ll instantly feel how premium it is as soon as you pick up the phone. This foldable phone is extremely thin and light, which significantly improves the user experience.
Everything else remains the same in terms of design, except for the camera module on the back, which is now a little more curved. The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is available in black, white and blue. Now, let’s focus on the two screens of the smartphone. One of them is the main screen that folds inward, while the other is a cover screen that is smaller and narrower than the main foldable one.
For the main display, the phone has a 7.98-inch foldable LTPO AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. This panel has a resolution of 1.5K and a maximum brightness of 3000 nits, making it a extremely good panel for viewing content. It also supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, so you can play Dolby Vision movies on this foldable phone.
As for the cover display, it has a 6.56-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. This is an FHD+ panel and you can also view Dolby Vision content as the main display. It can also reach a brightness of up to 3000 nits in direct sunlight, so using it outdoors won’t be a problem. Apart from that, the display on the cover is protected from scratches, but there is no official mention of the brand. Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 also has IPX8 water resistance but unfortunately, no dust resistance.
Memory and internal
The chipset powering the new Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 5G, which can reach CPU clock speeds of up to 1×3.3GHz. He is a true multitasking champion. Even high graphical fidelity games like Genshin Impact, CODm, Black Desert Mobile, Summoners War, and PUBG can be played with the highest graphics and frame rate options.
After all, the Adreno 750 GPU is the most powerful mobile GPU at the time of writing. The large size of the foldable smartphone also helps dissipate heat and keep the phone cooler during long gaming sessions. The smartphone comes with Android 14 out of the box with a HyperOS UI, offering plenty of customization options. The smartphone also supports 5G connectivity, enabling gigabit download speeds and low latency in multiplayer gaming. The new Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 can be purchased with up to 12GB/16GB of RAM and 256GB/512GB/1TB of UFS 4.0 internal storage.
Camera
The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 has a 50MP quad camera setup on the back. The 50MP main camera has some fantastic optimizations for light sensitivity, allowing the camera to take fantastic photos with excellent levels of detail and saturated colours. The second camera is a 50MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, which can capture shots that look sharp.
However, if you think 2x zoom is not enough, then the third 10MP periscope camera with 5x optical zoom will surely satisfy you. This lens is capable of taking some of the most impressive zoom shots and the details in these shots come out sharper than any other foldable smartphone. The last camera is the 12MP ultra-wide-angle, which also manages to produce equally excellent shots with a 120˚ field of view and little to no color shift compared to the main sensor.
As for selfies, there are two 16MP selfie cameras, one for each screen. The two cameras are the same and the images that come out of this sensor have a good amount of detail and a very natural skin tone. When it comes to video recording, the rear cameras can record up to 8K@24FPS, while the selfie camera can only record videos with a maximum resolution of 1080p@60FPS. Additionally, the rear has Dolby Vision HDR stabilization but the same cannot be said for the selfie cameras.
Battery and others
The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 has a high-capacity 5100 mAh battery inside, which can provide a full day’s worth of battery life with light use including a little photography, Netflix streaming, and a little social media. However, if you play a lot of games, the phone won’t last a full day and you’ll need to recharge it again at the end of the night.
When you need to recharge, you will be happy to know that the smartphone supports 67W wired fast charging that can fully charge the phone in just 45 minutes. It also supports 50W wireless charging and can fully charge the smartphone in about an hour. Apart from that, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 supports tri-band Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, NFC, stereo speakers, and a USB Type-C connector for charging. As for the price, the phone starts at $1,241 (Rs 1,03,999 in India) approximately.

Conclusion
The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is a fantastic foldable phone and brings some much-needed improvements over its predecessor, Fold 3. The changes and updates are not too drastic, but they are enough to make the folding experience much better. . It is now lighter and thinner and also has a larger battery. The new improvements, along with a better chipset and camera system, make the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 a fantastic foldable phone.
If you want the best display, processor, camera, battery life, best user experience, and most importantly, a reasonable price, then the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is the one. The only downside we could see is the lack of dust protection, which isn’t a deal breaker, but would have been nice to have.
The only decent alternative to the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, which was launched a few days ago. The Samsung foldable has slightly better build quality and also has dust protection, but the price is also higher. However, you will miss out on how thin and light the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is comparatively. However, the final decision is up to you, so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your needs and requirements.
