Oppo A60 smartphone review
Oppo A60 Smartphone Review: The Oppo A60 was launched in April 2024 and went on sale on the same day. The new phone should be launched globally, but Oppo has not yet offered an official statement on the matter. With the new budget smartphone, Oppo focuses on design, camera and battery and wants to create tough competition in the budget smartphone industry.
But the budget segment is fiercer than ever and occupies a decent position in it, especially since it doesn’t even have 5G connectivity. However, it has a great design that looks similar to Oppo’s flagship phones. Let’s start with a detailed review of the new Oppo A60 and see if this smartphone is worth buying.

Design and display
The design of the Oppo A60 smartphone certainly looks very premium, especially with the new camera module design. The phone features a flat design but its edges are beveled, making it comfortable to hold and does not easily slip out of your hands. The color pattern of the smartphone also looks iconic, especially in the purple color. There are not many smartphones in purple, so here you will get a unique color. If purple is not your thing, the smartphone is also available in blue color, which also looks quite fascinating. The phone is also quite thin, so it feels quite good in the hand.
The smartphone is also protected by IP54 dust and splash resistance, but do not take the phone into the pool. As for the display, you will find a 6.67-inch IPS LCD panel. It has a high refresh rate of 90Hz, allowing for a smoother user experience. The display can also reach a brightness of up to 950 nits in direct sunlight, which will enhance the outdoor experience.
Memory and internal
Oppo A60 is equipped with the Qualcomm SM6225 Snapdragon 680 4G chipset, which can reach clock speeds of up to 4×2.4GHz. This is an older chipset from 2021 and was based on an even older Snapdragon 660 chipset, which was released in 2017. This is certainly not what we had in mind, even at this price. However, due to the decent clock speeds, you can probably run any app like Facebook, WhatsApp, Snapchat, and more with decent performance.
It won’t run them with excellent performance, but most apps should run fine. For gaming, the chipset comes equipped with Adreno 610 GPU in the chipset that can play games like CODm and PUBG mobile. However, don’t expect high frame rates or higher graphics. This is not a gaming smartphone, so keep your expectations at the limit.
But the chipset does not overheat when gaming, which is undoubtedly a very good sign. Apart from that, the Oppo A60 can be purchased with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB to 256GB UFS 2.2 storage. The Oppo A60 also comes with Android 14 with ColorOS 14 UI for better customization support. Lastly, the Oppo A60 does not support 5G connectivity.
Camera
The Oppo A60 features a dual camera system on the rear with a 50MP sensor as the main camera and a 2MP sensor as the depth camera. The 50MP main camera can take some decent pictures. Many of Oppo’s budget phones rely heavily on software for image and video processing, often making photos look decent even if fine details are lacking, so expect the same here.
The secondary 2MP depth sensor is practically useless and other smartphones in the same price range at least have an ultra-wide sensor as a secondary camera, so we were a little disappointed. For selfies, you get a selfie camera with an 8MP sensor, which manages to capture somewhat decent selfies that are good enough to post on social media. As for video recording, the Oppo A60 can record up to a maximum resolution of 1080p@30FPS from both the rear camera system and the selfie camera system. But there is no stabilization of any kind.
Battery and others
The Oppo A60 has a high-capacity 5000 mAh battery, which is quite large for a smartphone in this price range. It can provide 2-3 days of battery backup with light use, which is definitely a plus point for the Oppo A60. It easily beats many other smartphones in the same price range. Even with medium to heavy use, the phone should last a full day.
However, intense gaming will significantly reduce battery life and you may need to charge it again. Speaking of charging, the Oppo A60 supports 45W fast wired charging. It is capable of charging the smartphone to 50% in just 30 minutes. Apart from that, the smartphone comes with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, stereo speakers, GPS, and a USB Type-C port. The Oppo A60 price starts at $180 (Rs 14,999 in India ) approximately.

Conclusion
The Oppo A60 smartphone in some homes manages to provide what the user expects from a budget smartphone. The design is brilliant and is sure to impress many people. It has a modern design similar to Oppo’s high-end smartphones, which cost much more. The battery is also excellent and can last 2-3 days depending on usage. The main camera of the smartphone is also good for its price.
Our main complaint about the camera comes down to the lack of a usable secondary camera. Apart from that, there are other issues as well, including the use of older SoC, lack of 5G connectivity, and lack of 1080p resolution. These things could be a deal breaker for many users. These things would have been acceptable if the price was decent, but it isn’t.
It has low-budget specifications but asks for a price that exceeds its real value. Other smartphones in the same price range offer much better specifications. For example, the Samsung Galaxy M34 is around the same price range, yet offers far superior specs, including a better display, chipset, cameras, battery, and even design. However, the final decision is up to you, so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your requirements and needs.
