In terms of design, the smartphone does not differ much from its predecessor, the Meizu 20 Pro. But Meizu believes that the new smartphone brings improvements in other areas to make it a great new smartphone. Let’s start with a detailed review of the Meizu 21 Pro smartphone and find out if it is worth buying.

  5. The phone has a 5050 mAh battery with 80W wired fast charging support and 50W wireless fast charging support.

Design and display

The Meizu 21 Pro looks no different from the Meizu 20 Pro. You can even call it a clone with a new coat of paint and you wouldn’t be wrong. It has a square and flat design with all the camera lenses placed vertically on the left side of the rear panel. Thanks to the flat sides, the grip of the smartphone is solid and does not tend to slide easily.

In terms of appearance, the smartphone also resembles Sony Xperia smartphones. It has an elegant design that is honestly very good. The smartphone is also made of premium materials and has IP68 protection against dust and water. Even the screen is also protected by Meizu’s Titan Glass 2.0. The display features a 6.79-inch LTPO AMOLED display with support for a high refresh rate of 120Hz.

This screen has a resolution of 1.5K and supports one billion colors, which will undoubtedly improve the user experience. The panel also features HDR10+, which will undoubtedly enhance any HDR content played on the smartphone. The display can reach a brightness of up to 1250 nits at maximum brightness levels under direct sunlight.

Memory and internal

Meizu equipped the Meizu 21 Pro with Qualcomm’s latest flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 5G chipset. This chipset is capable of delivering clock speeds of up to 1×3.3 GHz, making it the most powerful Android chipset yet. It has all the raw performance needed to run all your social media apps and games. Everything works in turns and the animations are fluid. This performance also carries over to the gaming aspect.

The Adreno 750 GPU will take care of all your gaming needs. Playing games like PUBGm, Summoners War, CODm, and Genshin Impact at their highest settings won’t be a problem. The Meizu 21 Pro runs on Android with a Flyme UI for more customization options. The Meizu 21 Pro also supports 5G connectivity for gigabit speeds.

In terms of memory and storage, the Meizu 21 Pro is available for purchase with up to 12GB/16GB of RAM and 256GB/1TB of ultra-fast UFS 4.0 internal storage.

Camera

The Meizu 21 Pro features a 50MP triple camera setup. The main camera consists of a 50MP sensor and the photos from this camera have excellent details and high dynamic range. Details in the shadows are also carefully preserved without exaggerating the highlights in the background. Even the color range is also quite good and looks quite natural.

It also has a 10MP periscopic telephoto lens for the second camera and takes photos at 3x zoom levels. The image that comes out of this sensor is also quite good and has adequate levels of detail. The third camera is the 13MP ultra-wide camera and it manages to capture details perfectly with great color accuracy. There is also no color change between any of the three cameras.

There is also portrait mode, and photos taken with this mode are also quite good with almost perfect blurred background. On the front, the Meizu 21 Pro has a 32MP selfie camera. The selfies from this camera are extremely good with natural color tones. The fine details of the face are adequately preserved. When it comes to video recording, the rear cameras can record videos up to 8K@30FPS. The main rear camera also supports gyro-EIS, making any footage extremely stable when recording videos.

Battery and others

The Meizu 21 Pro has a high-capacity 5050 mAh Li-Po battery, so it can easily last 1 to 2 days. This is with light to medium use that includes some camera, social media, watching videos, etc. But if you play a lot of games, the battery will drain quickly and you will have to charge the smartphone at the end of the day.

But this shouldn’t worry you as the smartphone supports 80W wired fast charging capabilities along with 50W wireless charging support and 10W reverse charging. Apart from that, the smartphone supports Wi-Fi 7 tri-band, Bluetooth 5.4, an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor under the screen, NFC, an infrared sensor, stereo speakers and a USB Type-C connector for charging. The smartphone will start at $700 (Rs 57,999 in India) approximately.

Conclusion

The Meizu 21 Pro is a great smartphone on its own and has an excellent display, design, chipset, camera and battery performance that can go toe-to-toe with other flagship phones. But compared to its previous version, the Meizu 20 Pro, it provides very few improvements. The design is almost the same. The screen is now protected by Meizu’s Titan glass, but other than that, almost all the specifications are the same. However, the screen brightness is much lower than that of the Meizu 20 Pro.

The same goes for the camera as well. As we usually say, the specifications and the number of megapixels are not many and the actual optimizations matter more. So although the Meizu 21 Pro has fewer megapixels, it is just as good or even better, especially in low light situations. But it’s still a regression in specifications.

If you are looking for an alternative option, you can check out the Vivo iQOO 12 Pro smartphone, which brings slight improvements. However, the final decision is up to you, so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your needs and requirements.
