Realme Narzo N53

Realme Narzo N53 Smartphone Review: The Realme Narzo N53 was recently launched in May 2023, in India and a few other markets as a budget alternative to other mid-range models with the same price. The budget market has been saturated with smartphones that have the same specifications and features. They don’t bring anything new to the industry and innovation has slowed down a lot in recent years.

You could even say that modern smartphones have degraded specifications compared to smartphones that were sold previously and you are not wrong. But Realme promises to change all that and bring true innovation back to the budget smartphone industry. The Realme Narzo N53 is their attempt to do this. Let’s take a look at the Realme Narzo N53 smartphone review if they managed to deliver on their promises with this review.

Reflexes

  1. The Realme Narzo N53 has a 6.74-inch IPS screen with Full HD+ resolution, 90 Hz high refresh rate and 450 nits of maximum brightness.
  2. The chipset inside the phone is the Unisoc Tiger T612 octa-core SoC clocked at 2×1.8 GHz.
  3. The phone arrives with Android 13 out of the box with Realme UI for more customization options.
  4. The main rear camera sensor has a 50MP sensor, while the selfie camera has an 8MP sensor.
  5. The phone has a 5000 mAh Li-Po battery and supports 33W fast charging.

Design and display

The design of the Realme Narzo N53 is what you would experience in a premium/flagship smartphone. The smartphone is available in two colors, gold and black. The body of the smartphone is made of plastic on both the middle frame and the back, but it is of higher quality. Therefore, it feels good to the touch and does not splinter. Plus, the mid-frame features a brushed aluminum finish, so it looks super premium. The gold color in particular looks stunning and is aimed at young and Gen Z users.

However, if you don’t want something flashy, you can opt for the black color, which looks simple and subtle in its elegance. As for the display, the smartphone features a 6.74-inch Super Full HD+ IPS display with a high refresh rate of 90Hz, which should make the user experience much smoother. The screen also achieves a brightness of 450 nits in direct sunlight. This isn’t the brightest screen, but it should be bright enough to use outdoors.

There are brighter displays available on other smartphones, but they don’t have the same budget as this smartphone. The bezels of the phone are quite narrow, which should give you a great experience when streaming movies and TV series. The screen is excellent and presents accurate colors. However, there is no protection on the glass screen, so get a cover or tempered glass if you are worried about the screen.

Memory and internal

The Realme Narzo N53 smartphone is powered by the Unisoc Tiger T612 octa-core SoC, which is clocked at 2 × 1.8 GHz. This chipset does not have a 5G modem, so unfortunately there is no 5G connectivity. The CPU part of the chipset has an eight-core configuration that can reach up to 2×1.8 GHz. While 1.8 GHz may seem a little low, don’t let this fool you. The CPU is more powerful than many CPUs that have a clock speed of 2 GHz.

It has enough CPU power to keep all your daily applications running faster and smoother. The GPU in this chipset is the Mali-G57, which is a fairly capable GPU not normally found in smartphones of this price. It will run most of the popular games that users play today. You can even play some graphics-intensive games like PUBGm, CODm, or even Genshin Impact.

On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 13 with a Realme UI for further customization. The smartphone comes in 2 memory configurations such as 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage and to top it off there is even microSD support which is simply incredible.

Camera

The Realme Narzo N53 phone has a dual camera system, with a 50MP sensor as the main camera and a depth sensor. Images from the main camera retain most details even when zoomed in closer. The images have a balanced dynamic range and the colors are saturated, making them more attractive and ready to publish on the Internet without editing. Realme smartphones tend to offer excellent camera systems in their systems, even in their mid-range lineup.

On the front, the smartphone has an 8MP selfie camera, which is capable of taking decent selfies with even skin tone and high dynamic range. The images have enough detail to make them good enough to post on social media without needing to apply any filters. If you take a lot of portrait photos, you’ll be happy to know that the smartphone’s portrait photography capabilities are pretty good, too. The background bokeh in selfies looks very natural and the edges around the human subject, such as strands of hair, blend perfectly with the background blur.

Even night photography does not disappoint as the sensor is optimized to capture more light from the environment. But don’t expect photos to be on the same level as the Samsung Galaxy S23 or iPhones. These photos are good compared to the camera capabilities of other smartphones in this price range. When it comes to video recording, the rear camera maxes out at 1080p@30FPS and the selfie camera maxes out at 720p@30FPS.

Battery and others

The new Realme Narzo N53 has a 5000 mAh Li-Po battery that eliminates the battery anxiety that some people tend to have. So, those who don’t like to charge their phones every day will be happy to know that this smartphone can easily last up to 2 days with light to moderate use.

Even with some light gaming, the battery should easily last a day and when you run out of power, there’s 33W wired fast charging to quickly get the battery level back to 100%. Apart from that, the phone also supports dual-band Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a USB Type-C connector for charging. The phone is available for sale starting at $108 (Rs 8,999 in India) approximately.

Conclusion

The Realme Narzo N53 smartphone has provided everything that is missing in most modern smartphones within the same budget. It provides a screen with Full HD+ resolution that other smartphones do not have in the same price range. The design of other smartphones would be too simple or mediocre and performance would be severely compromised. But the Realme Narzo N53 also excels in these areas.

The smartphone goes a step ahead and offers an excellent camera, an incredible bezel-less display, dual-band Wi-Fi, excellent battery life, fast charging and much more that significantly improves the out-of-the-box experience it offers. You will have a new user when you buy the smartphone.

That’s what makes this smartphone so fantastic. But this smartphone is yet to be launched globally. So, if you live somewhere where this smartphone has not been launched yet, you might want to keep an eye out for the Xiaomi Redmi 12 smartphone that will be launched globally soon. This smartphone is rumored to offer similar specifications with better camera capabilities for a similar starting price. So, keep an eye on that.
