Tecno Camon 30S Pro

Tecno Camon 30S Pro Smartphone Review – Tecno Camon 30 series phones are already in the market and recently the smartphone makers introduced the new Camon 30S Pro. The initial impression of this phone was quite unexpected. There is no denying that the company put in efforts to improve the design. But still, we saw this design on the Tecno Camon 30 and 30 Pro. The company has just launched this phone in a hurry with a new chipset.

As a MediaTek fan, the introduction of the new chip doesn’t come as much of a cheer. Moreover, adding a new hardware component only gives a boost to the camera department. Also, it might not be possible to expect a sturdy performance yet. Even so, the Camon 30S Pro has its strong points such as a curved display, higher screen-to-body ratio, sleek build, and more. Still, if you are looking for value for money, consider reading the Tecno Camon 30S Pro smartphone review. With that, you will be able to make accurate decisions according to your requirements.

  3. In terms of performance, you can rely on the Mediatek Helio G100 chipset with 4G connectivity support.
  4. This phone will feature a 50MP triple camera along with a 50MP selfie camera.
  5. Lastly, you get a 5000mAh battery capacity with 45W wired charging and 20W wireless charging.

Design and exhibition

The Tecno Camon 30S Pro has its traditional circular camera setup with unique paint options like the rest of the phones in the Camon 30 series. You can pick this phone in Interstellar Grey, Pearl Gold, and Shim Silver Green colours. Apart from the design aspect, the phone has a typical Tecno build. As usual, you can expect a few things like a lightweight body, a plastic back panel, thin bezels, a slim side panel, etc. However, the company also provides IP53-rated protection against dust and splashes.

But still, it would be great if the company adds gorilla protection on the 6.78-inch AMOLED panel. With the FHD resolution, you will have no issues watching content. But the 120Hz refresh rate will consume more battery. Still, if you want a smooth and fluid user experience, an advanced refresh rate will be required. Overall, the touch response will improve if you use a higher refresh rate. As for the brightness, the display can go up to 1300 nits, which is considerably decent for a mid-range phone.

Memory and internal

The hardware section of the Tecno Camon 30S Pro debuted the Helio G100 chipset, which can be considered a decent option in the mid-range segment. Mediatek chipsets usually power budget phones very well. But there are no major improvements over the Helio G99 chipset when it comes to the GPU or CPU. Still, the camera software has improved a bit with this new chipset. As for imaging, the graphics settings are just above average.

Next, the octa-core process can provide a camouflage speed of up to 2.2GHz. It is accompanied by 256GB of space and 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM. On papers, the performance aspect is quite disappointing if we look at the standards of Android smartphones. But, the improved comparison software configuration will ensure a better camera experience. As for the software skin, you will get Android 14 based on the HIOS 14 custom skin.

On HIOS, users will get a wide range of wallpapers, widgets, and custom theme options. Apart from this, the software layout brings a standard setup. However, there is a noticeable amount of bloatware apps. Still, gaming sessions are pretty decent as you won’t have any issues playing on standard resolution settings.

Camera

On most of the Camon 30 series phones, the camera aspect is one of the major weak points. On the Tecno Camon 30S Pro, users will get a regular setup of 50MP primary sensors, 2MP depth, and an auxiliary lens, which completes a triple camera setup. As far as specifications are concerned, the phone may not have high hopes when it comes to real-time photography. But the results surprised us as the colors are pretty accurate.

In daylight photos, the main lens can produce detailed images with natural colors and fine contrast control. You can then also use the HDR mode to improve light intensity, color saturation, hue, and other aspects. Additionally, the portrait mode will produce good photos. However, the level of detail is a bit off the mark. However, low-light photos are not this phone’s strong point.

Yes, the night mode helps a bit, but the overall results aren’t what you’d expect from a mid-range phone. Still, you won’t notice that much background noise. As for video recording, the phone can shoot videos at FHD+ resolution, but don’t expect any video stabilization or other fancy video settings. You will, however, find the standard time-lapse and slow-mo combo in the native camera app.

Battery and others

On this Tecno Camon 30S Pro, the company claims that its 45W charging can top up the 5000mAh battery in under 45 minutes. But to be honest, it will take more than an hour. Still, you can expect up to 5 hours of screen-on time with standard usage. Apart from this, we hardly noticed one or two phones in the budget segment offering wireless charging support. It is great to see that the device can be recharged with up to a 20W wireless charger.

The Camon 30S Pro has adequate sensors, communications, and other necessary tools. Apart from this, the phone supports 4G connectivity, an under-display fingerprint scanner, and an average audio output. As for the price of the Tecno Camon 30S Pro, the phone can be purchased at $286 (Rs 23,990 in India) approximately. Apart from the shortcomings, the phone is a good addition to the Camon 30 lineup.

Conclusion

The Tecno Camon 30S Pro is a mediocre mid-range phone. Even after receiving the new chipset, it is just the Helio G100 without any GPU improvements. The gaming experience is average, although lags are noticeable during long gaming sessions. On the other hand, the battery performance is not that bad and there are options to recharge it using a wired or wireless charger.

All these factors seem good on paper. However, real-time tests tell a slightly different story. You can’t expect much from the performance department. In the same budget range, you will find phones like the Realme Narzo 70 Pro. It is a complete package in the mid-range market. Still, we won’t stop you from selecting a phone. But make sure you weigh the pros and cons before choosing any device.
