Xiaomi 14T and 14T Pro Smartphones Review: The Xiaomi 14T and 14T Pro were launched in September 2024 as part of Xiaomi’s budget flagship lineup. They will be available globally in many European regions. It should launch in more countries soon, including India, but the company has not formally announced it yet. With the launch of these two new smartphones, Xiaomi focused on offering a flagship experience at a lower cost than its main flagship phones, Xiaomi 14, 14 Pro and 14 Ultra.
The “T” in the model name stands for the budget price of Xiaomi 14T and 14T Pro. Since these two phones are designed for a flagship experience, they have top-notch specifications inside, including 5G connectivity. Xiaomi hopes to attract users who expect a budget flagship phone like these two. So, let’s start with a detailed review of Xiaomi 14T and 14T Pro and see if these smartphones are worth buying.
Review of Xiaomi 14T and 14T Pro smartphones

- Both the Xiaomi 14T and 14T Pro feature the same 6.67-inch AMOLED display with 144Hz refresh rate support.
- The Xiaomi 14T features the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Ultra 5G chipset, which can reach clock speeds of up to 1×3.35 GHz, while the Xiaomi 14T Pro features the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ 5G chipset, which can reach clock speeds up to 1×3.4 GHz.
- Both Xiaomi 14T and 14T Pro run Android 14 with a HyperOS UI for further customization.
- Both smartphones feature the same 50MP triple rear camera system with a 32MP selfie camera.
- Both the Xiaomi 14T and 14T Pro have the same long-lasting 5000 mAh battery. The Xiaomi 14T Pro supports 120W wired fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging, while the Xiaomi 14T supports 67W wired fast charging.
Design and display
Both the Xiaomi 14T and 14T Pro have the same design, including the same dimensions. The body of the two smartphones features a flat design with a flat side frame and back panel, but the corners are rounded to make them more comfortable to hold. Although the two phones have the same design, the build materials and their quality are completely different.
The side and middle frame of the Xiaomi 14T are made of plastic. However, the side and middle frame are made of aluminum on the Xiaomi 14T Pro, making it much more premium and durable than its younger brother. The two phones come in Titan Grey, Titan Blue and Titan Black colors, but the Xiaomi 14T comes in one more color, Lemon Green.
As for the display, both Xiaomi 14T and 14T Pro feature extremely bezel-less displays, further elevating the flagship smartphone experience. They have the same 6.67-inch AMOLED display with 144Hz refresh rate support. The displays also have Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and support up to 68 billion colors.
The display can get extremely bright at 4000 nits, making it easily viewable even in direct sunlight. Additionally, the Xiaomi 14T Pro has a scratch- and drop-resistant screen, but the same cannot be said for the non-Pro model. However, Xiaomi did not specify which brand of scratch-resistant glass it uses for this screen.
Memory and internal
The Xiaomi 14T is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Ultra 5G chipset, which can reach clock speeds of up to 1×3.35 GHz, while the Xiaomi 14T Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ 5G chipset, which can reach clock speeds up to 1×3.4 GHz. While both chipsets can exceed 3.3 GHz+ and have more than enough raw performance to run all your everyday applications easily, they are not equal.
The MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ is significantly more powerful than the other and you will see that in games. Both chipsets can play games like PUBG, CODm, Genshin Impact, Summoners War, and Black Desert Mobile at relatively decent frame rates, but the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ will offer the highest frame rate while running in the highest graphics mode.
In addition to performance, both chipsets also support 5G connectivity and can download at gigabit-level speeds and run online games with low latency. For RAM and storage, the Xiaomi 14T will be available in 12+256GB, 12+512GB and 16+512GB RAM and storage configurations. However, the Xiaomi 14T Pro will be available in RAM and storage configurations of 12+256GB, 12+512GB, 16+512GB, and 12+1TB. When it comes to the software side, the new smartphones run on Android 14 with an MIUI 14 user interface for further customization.
Camera
Both the Xiaomi 14T and 14T Pro feature a 50MP triple rear camera system. The images that come out of the 50MP main sensor of both smartphones produce images of maximum quality. They have lots of details, better clarity and a natural color tone. The 12MP ultra-wide camera is also quite capable and captures images with a wide field of view.
Images from the ultra-wide camera have high levels of detail, but in some scenes there may be a small shift in colors compared to the main camera. There’s also a 50MP telephoto camera that can capture images at 2x optical zoom on the Pro model and 2x zoom on the 14T smartphone, and these images look fantastic. Although the performance of the rear cameras of the two smartphones is similar, the Xiaomi 14T Pro consistently produced better details than the non-pro model.
Even in low light situations, the Xiaomi 14T Pro takes brighter photos compared to its younger brother. On the front, both Xiaomi 14T and 14T Pro have the same 32MP selfie camera. This sensor can take selfies with significantly better levels of detail and overall lighting compared to other smartphones in the same price range.
As for video recording, the Xiaomi 14T can record videos at up to 4K@60FPS, while the selfie camera maxes out at 4K@30FPS. However, the Xiaomi 14T Pro can record videos at up to 8K@30FPS, while the selfie camera maxes out at 4K@30FPS. The rear cameras on both smartphones have OIS and gyro-EIS, so any footage recorded with them will be pretty stable, but the same can’t be said for the selfie camera.
Battery and others
Both the Xiaomi 14T and 14T Pro have the same long-lasting 5000 mAh battery, which is capable of providing 1 to 3 days of battery life with low to medium usage. However, gaming will drain the battery faster and the two smartphones may not last a full day. The Xiaomi 14T and 14T Pro also support fast charging.
The Xiaomi 14T supports 67W fast charging, which can fully charge the phone in about an hour. However, the Xiaomi 14T Pro comes with an even faster 120W charger, which can fully charge the phone in less than 20 minutes. The Pro phone also supports 50W wireless fast charging, which is not as fast as wired charging, but still plenty fast.
Apart from that, both smartphones have Wi-Fi 6E/7, Bluetooth 5.4, an under-display fingerprint scanner, NFC, GPS, stereo speakers, and a USB Type-C port for charging. The Xiaomi 14T is available for a price of $600 (Rs 50,499 in India) approximately, while the Xiaomi 14T Pro is available starting at $720 (Rs 60,599 in India) approximately.

Conclusion
With the Xiaomi 14T and 14T Pro, Xiaomi decided to do the impossible by creating two flagship smartphones on a budget, and they have certainly succeeded. The two smartphones feature almost everything that a flagship phone should have. They have a fantastic design, which not only looks good but also feels solid in the hand.
The screens are top notch with many of the latest technologies. The performance is also quite satisfactory and they are capable of running games with high graphical fidelity. The cameras are also fantastic and the same goes for the battery and charging speed. However, of the two phones, the Pro model offers a better experience in all aspects of the smartphone. The difference is not that big but it is still there.
If you are on a tighter budget, go for the non-pro model and you won’t feel any compromise in real-life use. However, if you can increase your budget a little, the Xiaomi 14T Pro is the best option, whether it’s gaming, camera, or even charging. The only alternative to these two phones would be the OnePlus 12R, which offers similar screen quality, performance, charging and an even lower price, but loses out on camera performance. However, the final decision is up to you, so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your requirements and needs.
