Infinix believes that the new smartphone has everything it takes to bring about a change in the budget smartphone segment. Design and exhibition
In the low-end category, companies don’t put much effort into creating a good design, but that’s not the case here. The design of the Infinix Hot 50 is clearly quite eye-catching. It has a flat design that is reminiscent of the iPhone design. The camera module on the rear panel makes the phone look quite sleek.
The body is made entirely of plastic, but the build quality is solid and there are no creaks or bends of any kind. Overall, the design is excellent and you will be able to buy the Infinix Hot 50 in four colours – Vibrant Blue, Elegant Black, Sage Green and Dreamy Purple. The phone also features an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance.
On the front, the phone has a large 6.7-inch IPS display with support for a 120Hz refresh rate. It’s an HD+ display, but it has had color tweaks applied to it to provide a great viewing experience when watching movies and TV shows. The display can reach decent brightness, so users shouldn’t have any major issues using it outdoors.
Memory and internal
The Infinix Hot 50 is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 5G, which is capable of clock speeds of up to 2×2.4 GHz. This octa-core chip setup has enough performance to run all apps and games decently. This level of chipset performance is also seen on the gaming side.
For gaming, you have the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, which is enough to run games like PUBGm, Summoners War, Black Desert Mobile, and even CODm at decent frame rates. However, graphics-heavy games like Genshin Impact might not run very fluidly. The smartphone also doesn’t overheat much, even during gaming. The smartphone can be purchased with up to 4GB/8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded via a microSDXC expansion slot.
There is also 5G connectivity that will offer faster download speeds and low latency for even better online gaming performance. The Infinix Hot 50 also runs Android 14 with XOS 14.5 UI for better customization support. The smartphone also has a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Camera
The Infinix Hot 50 comes with a 48MP rear camera system. The primary camera features a 48MP sensor and the images from this camera have more details and a high dynamic range. The colour range also looks very good and natural. Overall, the images were mostly noise-free and looked good. There is also support for portrait mode and the photos taken using this mode are also good with a pretty decent background blur.
However, the other two cameras are pretty useless and are just there for show. On the front, there is an 8MP selfie camera which can take some decent selfies but lacks the fine details but the color tone was okay. Besides that, both the front and rear cameras support video recording. There is no support for 4K high-resolution recording or video stabilization of any kind.
Battery and others
The Infinix Hot 50 has a 5000mAh battery and will easily last for 2-3 days with light usage including texting, camera, social media, YouTube, and more. This is made possible by the use of a large battery and a power-efficient chipset. However, with heavy gaming and multitasking workloads, the smartphone may not last a full day.
When the battery is running low, the bundled 18W wired fast charger can charge the battery fully in around 3 hours. A slightly faster 33W charger would have been better, no doubt, but we can’t complain at this budget price. Talking about pricing, the smartphone will soon go on sale at a starting cost of $120 (Rs 9,999 in India) approximately. The Infinix Hot 50 also comes with dual-band Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.4, OTG, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a USB Type-C for charging.

Conclusion
Infinix has delivered on the promise it made with the Infinix Hot 50 smartphone. It is an excellent budget smartphone that won’t let you down. It has a decent display with accurate colors for a better viewing experience. Its chipset is powerful enough to run modern games at decent frame rates and it even has a 5G modem inside. The rear camera performance is also equally impressive, and so is the battery life.
On top of all that, it has an eye-catching design that looks pretty good. Usually, budget phones don’t have great designs, but the Infinix Hot 50 does. The price is also right and it will be an attractive option for anyone looking to buy a new phone in this price range. It is definitely on our recommendation list.
However, there are two aspects that hold it back for some users: the lack of FHD+ resolution and a slow charging system. The only alternative smartphone to this one would be the Xiaomi Poco M6 Pro, which has an FHD+ display. But the final decision is up to you, so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your needs and requirements.
