Infinix Note 40 smartphone review

Pros and cons of Infinix Note 40

Infinix Note 40 Smartphone Review: The mid-range Infinix phone series has produced some decent smartphones. Recently, smartphone makers launched the new Note 40 series, which includes phones like Infinix Note 40, Note 40 Pro, and Note 40 Pro Plus. However, the company launched these phones quietly. But they could be a notable budget smartphone this year. Coming to today’s review, we have the Infinix Note 40 smartphone.

On first impression, the Infinix Note 40 looks impressive with an impressive design and at the same time, the phone offers a decent display. But the most surprising factor of this device would be the wireless charging. Generally, you won’t notice wireless charging support. But the rest of the specifications are quite normal. So, let’s find out if the Infinix Note 40 is worth buying in the following review.

Infinix Note 40 smartphone review

  1. The Infinix Note 40 arrives with a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with FHD resolution and 120Hz refresh rate support.
  2. A decent 108MP triple camera with a 32MP selfie camera will appear on this phone.
  3. The performance aspect is handled through the Helio G99 Ultimate chipset with 4G connectivity.
  4. As for the software layers, the phone offers the Android 14-based XOS 14 custom skin.
  5. Lastly, the device reaches a 5000 mAh battery with support for 45W wired charging and 20W wireless charging.

Design and display

The Infinix Note 40 is available in two stunning paint jobs including Titan Gold and Obsidian Black. Both of them look quite attractive and premium even though the company used a plastic material on the back panel. In addition to this, the phone arrives with a matte finish, giving it a premium look on first impression. Apart from this, users will get a rectangular camera module with an LED ring light.

Without forgetting that the Infinix brand is visible at the bottom. The side panel offers metallic texture and a volume button. With this, it is confirmed that the smartphone manufacturers are providing decent build quality on the Infinix Note 40. It will also feature an IP54 rating with Corning Gorilla Glass on the front display. Although the phone is missing the 3.5mm jack port.

On the front display, you get a dot-and-notch display camera. But it didn’t feel that big when viewing content on a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel. After this, it is good to see that the phone offers FHD resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. With this, overall browsing will be smooth and crisp. However, the screen brightness is slightly low as it only supports brightness up to 1300 nits.

Memory and internal

The hardware section is also not that bad as you will get the ultimate Mediatek Helio G99 chipset. Through this chipset, you can expect performance good enough for daily activities and casual gaming. But the graphics units are not that good if you want to enjoy long gaming sessions. However, the phone will struggle to maintain the frame rate due to hardware limitations.

As a result of that, the phone was unable to push the graphical limits and provided an average gaming experience. On top of that, the software interface may look fabulous on the surface. But in reality, the custom interface of XOS 14 based on Android 14 has a lot of bloatware and ad notifications. Most of the time, you won’t be able to disable them. It is one of the main disadvantages of using an Infinix phone.

Anyway, there is one thing that the phone banishes. It is none other than storage as you get 256GB UFS 2.2 internal storage. With so much space, you can effortlessly download games and store media and Office files in one place. Apart from this, the phone also comes with support for 8GB of RAM. In terms of software updates, Infinix phones often delay Android updates but constantly provide security patches to fix bugs.

Infinix Note 40 equips a triple camera setup on the rear panel, which includes 108MP as the main sensor. It allows users to capture more details with accurate colors and white balance. At the same time, you can rely on the 2MP secondary camera for macro and depth photography. Apart from this, the 32MP selfie lens can provide images and videos using the improved camera technology.

There is no denying that Infinix improves its camera software, which is noticeable when using the native camera app. Although there is no doubt that the camera app fails when it comes to low light. But still, the Infinix Note 40 can achieve a dynamic range of colors. Apart from this, the image quality of daylight photos improves to some extent if you use the Pro mode.

Don’t forget that AI mode will enhance colors and adjust saturation to make your photos more lively. On the other hand, the video recording aspect is not that bad either. The main camera app can easily record videos with up to 1440p resolution, while the front camera app comes with 1080p video recording. However, you won’t notice proper stabilization during video recording.

Battery and others

Under the hood, the Infinix Note 40 comes with a 5000 mAh battery with 45W wired charging. With this configuration you can enjoy more than three hours of gaming and five hours of normal content consumption. At the same time, the phone also offers a decent battery life for an entire day. As for the charging speed, users can rely on the wired charger.

It will take less than an hour and a few minutes to recharge the battery percentage to the maximum. Apart from this, the user will also get 20W wireless charging, which can charge the phone in less than two hours. Typically, you won’t find wireless charging support on 4G phones. But it’s a completely different story when you look at the Infinix Note 40.

However, the device comes with decent Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS sensors so that you can use this phone to the fullest. Also, the stereo speakers are tuned by JBL, so a decent sound output is expected. At the same time, you can buy this phone for $204 (Rs 16,999 in India) approximately, making it an attractive deal in the mid-range segment.

There are not many phones that offer wireless charging, NFC support and impressive customization attributes in the mid-range segment. But when we talk about the Infinix Note 40, it brings together all those factors without much compromise. However, we won’t deny that the user interface is loaded with bloatware, ads, and annoying notifications. Also, the quality of the video recording will not give good results.

On the other hand, the phone is limited to 4G connectivity, which could be a problem for people who want to enjoy a 5G connection on their phone. However, the phone did not lack when it came to daily use. But unfortunately, it is not designed to play properly. Instead, you should consider purchasing the Vivo iQOO Z9. With this, you will receive a stable user interface and great customization features. Finally, we recommend choosing a phone that fits your needs and budget.
