Motorola Moto E14 Smartphone Review
Motorola Moto E14 Smartphone Review – Motorola’s entry-level phones are either a bad buy or a good buy, depending on the price. Smartphone makers know where to play their cards and when. Recently, the company introduced the new Motorola Moto E14, which looks phenomenal. It offers an amazing build, sharp design, long-lasting battery, and other necessary factors. But there is no denying that the phone has its fair share of flaws.
For instance, the device has a below-average hardware configuration, limited storage capacities, and standard charging support. There are many other factors that can be considered a major flaw. But in today’s era, it has become crucial to find an affordable phone. Brands often overlook creativity when launching their expensive smartphone segments. The same happened with the Motorola Moto E14. But is it a better choice than the previous model Moto E13 or not? So, let’s find out in the following review.
Motorola Moto E14 Smartphone Review
Reflexes
- The phone comes with a standard 6.56-inch IPS LCD panel with a 90Hz refresh rate.
- As for the software layers, the Android 14 Go edition offers a clean interface with almost zero bloatware.
- The hardware configuration brings a Unisoc T606 chipset that can support normal activities.
- The Motorola Moto E14 will feature a decent 13MP camera setup with a 5MP selfie camera.
- In terms of battery configuration, the device packs a 5000mAh battery with 15W wired charging support.
Design and exhibition
Unlike the previous variants, the company is implementing a new design with a matte finish. Speaking of which, the Motorola Moto E14 comes with a smooth surface covering the rear panel. Along with this, users can choose between Pastel Green, Graphite Gray, and Pastel Purple. All of them look pretty fabulous. But if you are looking for a unique paint job, consider getting the Purple or Green variant.
However, the graphite grey variant looked manageable as it had a slightly glossy finish. However, the overall build quality of this device is not that bad, even though it is an entry-level phone. You get an impressive curved body with slightly thick bezels covering the front display. Apart from this, the camera module looks pretty standard on the first impression, while the device has a fairly thin and lightweight body.
As for the display protection, the device is equipped with Gorilla Glass 3 and a water-repellent design. However, avoid using the phone in water as it could damage the internal circuitry of the hardware. As for the front display, the 6.56-inch IPS LCD panel sports a dot-notch display with support for a 90Hz refresh rate. Browsing would be smooth, while the screen resolution tops out at 720p. If you are looking for a brighter display, it might not be a great option.
Memory and internal
The hardware configuration of the Motorola Moto E14 with the Unisoc T606 chipset is not something you would expect even in an affordable smartphone. With this configuration, the octa-core system can only reach a stealth speed of 2×1.6 GHz. At the same time, the performance aspect is slightly reduced compared to phones in the same price range. Still, you can enjoy regular games and stream content easily without any issues.
Although the phone might not be a good choice for long gaming sessions. Also, it doesn’t support most of the mainstream mobile games. Thankfully, the device is equipped with Android 14 Go edition, which brings a stable user interface and an interesting customization feature. The GO edition also features the Lite version of apps, which seamlessly supports your daily activities.
On the other hand, the graphics unit is not worth mentioning as the phone struggles to deliver a decent visual experience. The storage capacity might seem questionable as it is a 64GB UFS 2.2 device with support for 2GB of RAM. Usually, this configuration is not that bad for an entry-level phone. But the main concern would be the 2GB of RAM as it will not be able to support advanced gaming and other activities that require higher performance. You can still expand the storage using the microSD slot.
Camera
The Android Go platform offers pretty decent photography and video recording capabilities on the Motorola Moto E14. After using the native camera app for a couple of days, daylight photos feature vibrant colors, controlled contrast, and accurately controlled hue. However, you will notice graininess and slightly dull colors when clicking photos in low light.
The phone certainly delivers mediocre photos with average image resolution and details. Despite this, the 13MP main sensors do their best to produce accurate skin tones through the camera software. After this, users can expect up to 1080p video recording. But the results are not what one would expect. The video results are shaky and lack proper details.
On the other hand, the phone doesn’t feature any secondary camera lens. Still, it’s good to see that the company added a 5MP selfie lens. Daylight photos are better compared to last year’s Moto E13, while HD+ resolution video recording is possible with this device. Overall, the camera setup is mediocre, but it’s good enough to produce presentable photos.
Battery and others
Whether you are a casual or power user, the Motorola Moto E14 phone will give you around 5 hours of screen-on time. It doesn’t matter if you are gaming, streaming music, video calling your friends or family, or just browsing social media. In most cases, users can get four hours of screen-on time from a 5000mAh battery. Even after this, there will be 22% battery left, which can help you run the phone for around 30 to 40 minutes.
Apart from this, the charging capacity is increased by 5W compared to the previous model. You get a 15W charger that can top up the battery in an hour and a couple of minutes. As far as sensors and communications are concerned, the device has a pretty average configuration. Still, it is good to see a 3.5mm jack port on this phone. Finally, let’s dive into the pricing. The Motorola Moto E14 will cost around $95 (Rs 7,999 in India) approximately. Do note that the pricing may vary from country to country.

Conclusion
Currently, the Motorola Moto E14 is available in the UK and European smartphone markets. Also, the phone was teased on the official website for a while. But, the global availability is not confirmed yet. Still, if you want a decent phone with a clean UI for calling and other social media activities, then the Moto E14 is an ideal solution. Moreover, this affordable 4G phone also integrates the latest AI technology under the hood.
But even after adding those futuristic technologies, the practical use of this phone is a bit disappointing. The performance, camera, and display department is something that needs a lot of improvement, while the battery performance is not that bad. Despite that, we would recommend you to check out the Xiaomi Redmi 13C if you can make compromises when it comes to software. Still, we consider the Motorola Moto E14 to be a good phone for its price. Regardless of this, choose a smartphone based on your needs.
