Oukitel C50 Smartphone Review

Oukitel C50

Oukitel C50 Smartphone Review – The Oukitel C50 was announced in June 2024 and started shipping to customers that same month. The smartphone is available in many countries globally and can be purchased through AliExpress. This phone has a rugged build, but unlike other rugged or rugged phones, it is not ugly at all. In fact, it looks great and comes in beautiful colors.

The smartphone was designed for users on a tight budget, but Oukitel managed to include 5G connectivity and some other interesting features to make the smartphone more attractive to users in that price range. Let’s start with a detailed review of the Oukitel C50 and see if this smartphone is worth buying.

Oukitel C50 Smartphone Review

Highlights

  1. The Oukitel C50 has a 6.8-inch IPS display with HD+ resolution.
  2. The SoC inside the smartphone is the MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ 5G SoC, which is capable of clock speeds of 2×2.2 GHz.
  3. The smartphone comes with Android 14 with a stock user interface for a better experience.
  4. The primary rear camera of the smartphone has a 50MP triple camera system with a 5MP selfie camera.
  5. The smartphone is powered by a 5150mAh Li-Po battery and supports a standard 10W wired charger.

Design and exhibition

The Oukitel C50 is made from sturdy materials. The entire body is made from plastic, but it’s built like a rock and is quite durable. Oukitel says that it can easily survive drops onto concrete from a height of 0.8m, so it won’t break easily. It has a flat design that is quite grippy and won’t slip out of your hands easily.

The camera module design is similar to that of the iPhone and matches well with the phone’s colors. The phone is available in gray, green, and blue. Unfortunately, it does not feature dust and water protection, but the display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

As for the display, it sports a 6.8-inch IPS display with HD+ resolution. The lack of FHD+ might be a deal-breaker for some users, so keep that in mind. The panel can reach a brightness level of 400 nits under direct sunlight, which isn’t that bright and you might face issues using the phone outdoors.

Memory and internal

The Oukitel C50 is powered by the 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ 5G chipset, which is capable of clock speeds of up to 2×2.2GHz. This chipset has enough power to deliver a smooth experience. It is quite a capable chipset and this kind of performance can be seen on the gaming side of things as well.

The Mali-G57 MC2 GPU can run games like PUBG Mobile, Summoners War, and CODm with smoother frame rates. You can even play Genshin Impact, but only at low or medium graphics settings. The chipset also supports 5G connectivity, so you can expect gigabit speeds and low latency in multiplayer games.

Heat dissipation is also pretty good and the smartphone never overheats. The phone runs on Android 14 with a stock UI that provides a great user experience. As for RAM and storage, the smartphone has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage. There is also support for a microSDXC card, so you can expand the internal storage later. The phone also has a 3.5mm headphone jack, something that is increasingly rare these days.

Camera

The Oukitel C50 comes with a 50MP triple rear camera system. The main camera with a 50MP sensor can take some pretty decent pictures with vibrant colors. However, it is not going to break any records. The image from this camera looks decent enough to be posted on social media platforms.

On the front of the Oukitel C50 is a 5MP sensor that can take some average selfies. It’s not great, but it gets the job done. As for video recording, the Oukitel C50 can record at a maximum resolution of 1080p at 30 FPS from the rear camera and 720 at 30 FPS from the selfie camera. There’s no EIS or any other form of video stabilization.

Battery and others

The Oukitel C50 has a high capacity 5150mAh Li-Po battery that can offer great battery life that can comfortably last for 2-3 days with light to medium usage including some calling, texting, camera, and movie watching. This is a great battery life that is only possible because of the large battery capacity and the highly efficient chipset that uses very little power. However, if you play a lot of games, the battery will not last as long and will drain faster.

Sadly, the smartphone does not support any kind of fast charging. It only has support for a standard 10W wired fast charging, which is extremely slow and fully charging such a big battery can take around 3-4 hours or a little more. Apart from that, the phone also has Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, OTG, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, GPS, and a USB Type-C port. The smartphone is currently available for purchase at just $132 (Rs 11,099 in India) approximately.

Conclusion

The Oukitel C50 is a decent phone considering its price. It has a fantastic design that is sure to impress a lot of people and it is also much more durable than other phones in the same price range. The chipset also has decent gaming performance considering the price range. The battery is also pretty good and will last a long time.

But the best thing about it is that it has 5G connectivity, something that many other phones still don’t have. Considering the above specs, the price would have been pretty good, but sadly, the lack of FHD+ resolution, fast charging, and water resistance leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Other phones offer all of that in the same price range.

For example, the Realme Narzo 70x costs roughly the same as the Oukitel C50 but offers an FHD+ display, water resistance, fast charging, and a few more features. However, the final decision is up to you, so it’s better to choose a smartphone based on your requirements and needs.
