Oppo Reno 13 and 13 Pro smartphones review: The Oppo Reno 13 and 13 Pro were announced in November 2024 in China and started shipping at the end of that month. Both smartphones are only available in China at the moment, but will soon go on sale globally like other Oppo phones. However, there may be some small changes in the specifications of global models.
Oppo Reno 13 and 13 Pro are designed to be great mid-range smartphones, so they have great specs inside, including faster 5G connectivity. Both phones feature a fairly similar design to their predecessor, the Oppo Reno 12 series. The main differences in design are in the camera module, and that’s it. However, the new phones received several internal updates, making them a worthy successor. Let’s start with a detailed review of Oppo Reno 13 and 13 Pro and see if these smartphones are worth buying.

Design and display
The design of the Oppo Reno 13 and 13 Pro is similar to its predecessor, which is not a bad thing, but a change would have been nice. However, we are not going to complain as Oppo significantly improved the build quality of both phones. The plastic frame is gone and replaced with aluminum, improving the strength and rigidity of the phone. The rear panel is made of glass. This combination of metal and glass provides a premium user experience.
Both phones feature a flat design, which improves grip. All in all, it’s a fantastic phone in terms of build quality and the design isn’t bad either. It is available in black, purple and blue colors while the pro version has additional pink color variants. As for the display, the Oppo Reno 13 has a 6.59-inch AMOLED display, while the Oppo Reno 13 Pro has a 6.83-inch AMOLED display. Both displays feature a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1 billion colors, providing a superior viewing experience.
Additionally, both displays are capable of reaching a maximum brightness of up to 1200 nits in direct sunlight. Both smartphones are also protected against dust and water damage as they have IP68/69 certifications. However, there is no mention of screen protection, so users should purchase a decent tempered glass if they decide to purchase either phone here.
Memory and internal
Both Oppo Reno 13 and 13 Pro feature the flagship MediaTek Dimensity 8350 5G chipset, which is capable of clock speeds of up to 1×3.35 GHz. The higher clock speed allows this processor to improve its performance in all aspects of the phone. Everything from swiping between apps to running two apps on a split screen feels smoother and more responsive than ever.
Even games are much better with this chipset. Games like PUBG, CODm, Genshin Impact, and more will run at high frame rates, which will definitely improve your gaming experience. Both phones also have 5G connectivity, which will let you download things at gigabit speeds and low latency.
As for the operating system, both the Oppo Reno 13 and 13 Pro run on the latest Android 15 out of the box with a ColorOS 15 UI for more customization options. In terms of RAM and storage, the Oppo Reno 13 has 12GB+256GB, 16GB+256GB, 12GB+512GB, 16GB+512GB and 16GB+1TB of RAM and internal storage. The Oppo Reno 13 Pro has 12GB+256GB, 12GB+512GB, 16GB+512GB and 16GB+1TB of RAM and internal storage.
Camera
The Oppo Reno 13 features a 50MP dual rear camera system, while the Oppo Reno 13 Pro features a 50MP triple rear camera system. The difference between the camera system of the two phones is that the latter has an additional telephoto camera but the other two cameras are the same. The 50MP main camera on both phones is the same and can take good photos with excellent levels of detail, accurate color tones and perfect white balance.
The second camera is the ultra-wide-angle lens, which has an 8MP sensor and is capable of capturing some decent photos with a 115° field of view. The image quality and level of detail are nowhere near the quality of the main camera, but they are not all bad either. The Oppo Reno 13 Pro has another 50MP telephoto camera, which can capture photos with 3.5x optical zoom. The image quality of the images coming from this sensor is quite good and has a lot of detail with a natural color tone.
When it comes to the selfie camera, both the phones have the same 50MP selfie sensor. It is capable of taking fantastic selfies, which have great levels of detail with natural color tones. As for video recording, both the Oppo Reno 13 and 13 Pro can record videos up to 4K@60FPS from both the rear camera and the selfie camera. The rear cameras of Oppo Reno 13 and Oppo Reno 13 Pro have OIS and gyro-EIS and allow you to record videos with more stability. However, the selfie camera only has EIS gyroscope, so the videos recorded with this camera are not as stable as those from the rear cameras.
Battery and others
The Oppo Reno 13 has a 5600 mAh battery, while the Oppo Reno 13 Pro has a 5800 mAh battery. The batteries on both phones are capable of providing 1 to 3 days of battery life with light use. However, if you play a lot of video games, none of the smartphones can last all day. However, both smartphones support fast charging, so there is nothing to worry about.
Oppo Reno 13 and Oppo Reno 13 Pro support 80W wired fast charging, which can fully charge the battery in less than 50 minutes. The Reno 13 Pro also supports 50W wireless fast charging, which can fully charge the phone in less than 1.5 hours. Apart from that, both smartphones have Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, an under-display fingerprint scanner, NFC, infrared sensor, GPS, and a USB Type-C port for charging. The Oppo Reno 13 is available for a starting price of $367 (Rs 30,990 in India), while the Oppo Reno 13 Pro is available starting at $474 (Rs 39,990 in India) approximately.

Conclusion
The Oppo Reno 13 and 13 Pro have received some solid updates compared to their predecessor, making them a great option for owners of older Oppo Reno phones, as well as users who just want a new phone. The new smartphones provide a satisfactory experience in all aspects.
The displays on both phones are quite impressive in terms of image quality and clarity. The acting is pretty fabulous too. It’s not as fast as flagship chipsets, but it’s faster than most mid-range and high-end chips. The camera performance of both phones is also quite satisfactory. They won’t come close to the performance of the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, but they are more than enough.
The battery life and charging speed are even more impressive than anything else on the two phones. The Oppo Reno 13 Pro also includes support for true wireless fast charging, which is the icing on the cake. Taking into account everything that the Oppo Reno 13 and 13 Pro offer, their price is justified. The best alternative phones to these two would be the Xiaomi Redmi K80 and the Redmi K80 Pro. They have similar specifications but with even faster chipsets and cost a little less. However, the final decision is up to you, so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your requirements and needs.
