Software Update: Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 now supports Blood Pressure and ECG in India
In a recent development, Samsung has rolled out a compact yet impactful update for its Galaxy Watch 4 series in India. The update, titled version R870XXU1HWL1/R870OXM1HWL3, costs a modest 11.83 MB but brings significant additions to health monitoring capabilities.
Key improvements include the introduction of blood pressure and ECG (electrocardiogram) features for Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic users in India. To unlock these features, users need to install the Samsung Health Monitor app on their smartphones and Galaxy Watch 4 devices.
After installation is complete, users are prompted to read the warnings, acknowledge the benefits, and grant the necessary permissions. The ECG function becomes easily accessible, presenting data on heart health with results classified as sinus rhythm, atrial fibrillation, inconclusive and poor recording.
For the Blood Pressure function, an additional step is to calibrate the watch with a cuff blood pressure monitor. Once calibrated, the Galaxy Watch’s Samsung health monitor successfully measures blood pressure, displaying the results of systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, and pulse (heart rate) on the Galaxy Watch and paired Galaxy phone .
However, it is essential to note that these results are intended for reference purposes only and should not be considered medical advice or a basis for changing current medication. Samsung emphasizes that users should always consult a healthcare professional before making a decision based on the data provided by the health monitoring app.
