Vivo Y200i smartphone review
Vivo Y200i Smartphone Review: Vivo Y200i was announced in April 2024 in China and then went on sale at the end of that month. Vivo has not announced anything about the possibility of a global launch but judging by its previous launches, the smartphone will launch globally but probably under a different name. Vivo has done this in the past, so it wouldn’t be surprising.
Vivo wanted to impress its users in China, so they put all their emphasis on the design, and it is certainly working for them. It is a well-designed smartphone that looks a lot like Vivo’s T3X. It also comes with 5G. So, you get beauty and intelligence with this smartphone. Let’s start with a detailed review of the new Vivo Y200i and see if this smartphone is worth buying.

Design and display
The Vivo Y200i has a similar design to the Vivo T3x. It has the same flat body, artistic rear panel and circular camera module. This combination of design elements looks quite good and is sure to impress those who look at your phone. The flat body gives it a strength, while the back panel with its artistic design gives a stylish look and is sure to turn heads.
Additionally, the entire phone has a frosted matte finish on the front and honestly, it looks pretty good. The smartphone comes in three colors, black, blue and white. The smartphone is protected with an IP64 rating for protection against dust and splashes of water. When it comes to display, you get a 6.72-inch IPS display with 120Hz high refresh rate support.
The panel has an FHD+ resolution and its colors are accurate, so watching content on this screen will be a pleasure. Additionally, the screen is quite bright at 1000 nits in direct sunlight, so using the smartphone outdoors will be just as accurate as using it indoors. However, there is no mention of screen protection.
Memory and internal
The Vivo Y200i features the Qualcomm SM4450 Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 5G chipset. This chipset is capable of clock speeds of 2×2.2 GHz, so it should have decent performance. This is a relatively good chipset for this price range and you will have no problem running apps or games including Facebook, WhatsApp, Snapchat, and more.
This performance advantage can also be observed in games. Games like PUBG Mobile, Summoners War, Black Desert Mobile, and CODm should run with decent performance. The chipset has an Adreno 613 GPU, which has enough performance for most games. As for the operating system, the smartphone comes with Android 14 with an OriginOS 4.0 UI.
The smartphone also supports 5G connectivity, so you will get good speeds and lower latency. In terms of RAM and storage, the smartphone can be purchased with up to 8GB/12GB of RAM and 256GB to 512GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage.
Camera
The Vivo Y200i has a 50MP dual rear camera system. The main camera with a 50MP sensor tends to capture some decent shots with good enough details, natural color tone, adequate white balance, and high dynamic range. The second camera has a 2MP depth sensor for portrait photos and they are average at best.
There is also an LED flash, which can help you take photos in very low light situations. For the selfie camera, there is an 8MP sensor. This selfie camera takes some average selfies with details that are good enough and get the job done. As for video recording, both the rear and selfie cameras can record at a maximum resolution of 1080p@30FPS. Additionally, there are no OIS or EIS stabilization options.
Battery and others
The Vivo Y200i has a massive 6000mAh high-capacity battery that can easily last 2-3 days with light to medium usage. But, if you take a lot of photos and use a lot of social media, texting, watching videos, etc., then the smartphone will drain faster and the phone may not even give you 2 days of battery life.
Plus, gaming will drain your battery much faster and may not even last a full day. However, there is nothing to worry about as the smartphone supports a 44W wired fast charger, which should be able to fully charge the smartphone in less than 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Apart from that, the smartphone also has Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 4.2, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, GPS, stereo speakers, and a USB Type-C port. The Vivo Y200i starts at $226 (Rs 18,890 in India) approximately .

Conclusion
The Vivo Y200i was launched with some really good specifications. The display and camera experience was pretty decent, but the smartphone stood out in terms of design, performance, 5G, and battery. Altogether, the smartphone offers a lot. Apart from that, this new smartphone comes with the latest Android OS, IP rating, and a high RAM variant.
That alone makes it a good competitor in this price range. So if your priorities include design, performance, and battery life, then this smartphone can be a great option. However, if the camera is your priority, you should look elsewhere. The Infinix GT 10 Pro is a much better smartphone with around the same price or a little higher depending on the local price in that country. The Infinix GT 10 Pro has better specifications in all aspects of the smartphone. However, the final decision is up to you, so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your requirements and needs.
