Xiaomi presents Xiaomi 14 and 14 Ultra in Europe with a high price
Xiaomi 14 and 14 Ultra in Europe
This week, Xiaomi made a splash at Mobile World Congress 2024 with the grand unveiling of its latest flagship smartphones, the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Ultra. However, the announcement had a surprising twist as the prices of the European variants left many scratching their heads.
The European edition of the Xiaomi 14, which mirrors its Chinese counterpart in hardware specifications, debuts at a starting price of 999 euros (about 7,780 yuan), a stark contrast to its price of 3,999 yuan in China.
Similarly, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra European (Review), which features identical hardware but lacks the new GSR battery technology found in the Chinese version, is priced at €1,499 (about RMB 11,670). In comparison, the Chinese variant, equipped with an advanced battery, costs 6,999 yuan.
In particular, the absence of the next-generation GSR battery in the international version of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra (new 5300 mAh in China; old 5000 mAh in Europe) raises questions about Xiaomi’s decision-making process, with factors such as cost , supply chain limitations, and certification requirements were speculated as possible reasons for the omission.
Despite these discrepancies, Xiaomi enthusiasts in Europe, India, Southeast Asia, and beyond can anticipate availability of both devices in early March. As consumers eagerly await the opportunity to experience Xiaomi’s latest innovations, the company’s strategic pricing and feature options continue to fuel debates within the tech community.
