Realme 13 Plus Smartphone Review
Realme 13 Plus Smartphone Review: The Realme 13 Plus was announced in August 2024 in India and will go on sale in September 2024. Given Realme’s previous launches, the new phone should be launched globally, but the company is yet to offer an official statement on the matter. The Realme 13 Plus is designed as a premium phone on a budget, hence it packs a better display, camera, battery, design, and more to give it some tough competition in the budget mid-range category.
However, Realme might find it difficult to make a comeback in this market as the high-end segment is more competitive than ever. Despite these challenges, Realme believes that its included 5G connectivity, along with other features, would be enough to attract users. Let’s begin with a detailed review of the new Realme 13 Plus and see if this smartphone is worth buying.

Design and exhibition
The design of the Realme 13 Plus smartphone certainly looks premium, especially with the new design and color options. It is available in Victory Gold, Speed Green, and Dark Purple colors. The Dark Purple color looks fantastic and many would mistake it for a flagship model. However, the build materials are not as good as they seem. The body of the phone is made entirely of plastic, but it is solid and does not bend easily.
Overall, the phone is okay, but it definitely takes the cake when it comes to looks. You’ll be glad to know that it’s protected against dust and water with an IP65 rating. As for the display, the phone sports a 6.67-inch AMOLED display panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, allowing for a smoother user experience. The inclusion of FHD+ resolution and HDR10+ leads to great visual fidelity when watching movies. The display can also reach up to 2,000 nits brightness under direct sunlight, which will enhance the outdoor experience and provide a better experience.
Memory and internal
The Realme 13 Plus is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 5G chipset, which can reach clock speeds of up to 4×2.5GHz. This is a fairly powerful chipset, considering the price, and is capable of running most apps and games without any issues. It can comfortably run apps like Facebook, WhatsApp, Snapchat, etc., with decent performance.
As far as gaming is concerned, it can run games like CODm, Genshin Impact, PUBG Mobile, Summoners War, and even Black Desert Mobile at decent frame rates. However, don’t expect the highest graphical fidelity/frame rate as this isn’t a gaming smartphone. As long as you keep your expectations at the limit, this chipset will provide satisfactory gaming performance. There are also no overheating issues while gaming on this chipset, which is certainly a very good sign.
The smartphone supports 5G connectivity, so it can provide gigabit download speeds while downloading movies and low latency while gaming. Apart from that, the Realme 13 Plus can be purchased with up to 8GB/12GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of fast UFS 3.1 internal storage. It also comes with the latest Android 14 with the RealmeUI 5.0 user interface, which offers better customization support.
Camera
The Realme 13 Plus features a 50MP triple rear camera system. The 50MP primary sensor takes some decent photos. Usually, Realme’s budget phones rely heavily on software post-processing to make photos look decent at the cost of fine details, but that’s not the case here. The company honestly surprised us with good detail levels and a natural colour tone in the images.
However, the same can’t be said about the secondary cameras, which are completely useless. Moving on to the selfie camera, which is pleasingly good. The 16MP selfie sensor manages to capture pretty decent selfies with a good amount of detail in them. As for video recording, the Realme 13 Plus can shoot up to a maximum resolution of 4K at 30 FPS from the rear camera, but the selfie camera tops out at 1080p at 30 FPS. The primary rear camera has OIS and gyro-EIS, so any footage shot using this camera will have stable footage, but there is no stabilization for the selfie camera.
Battery and others
The Realme 13 Plus has a high-capacity 5000mAh battery, which can provide 1-2 days of battery life with light usage, which is a plus point for the Realme 13 Plus. Using everyday apps like Facebook, Snapchat, Messenger, and more puts little demands on the system, and achieving 2 days of battery life isn’t difficult. Even with medium or slightly heavier usage, the phone should last a full day.
However, if you play a lot of games, the battery life will drain significantly faster and you might have to charge it again at the end of the day. Talking about charging, the Realme 13 Plus has support for 80W wired fast charging, which should fully charge the smartphone in under 50 minutes. Apart from that, the smartphone comes with Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, an under-display fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port for charging. The price of the Realme 13 Plus starts at $274 (Rs 22,999 in India) approximately.

Conclusion
The Realme 13 Plus has managed to deliver what it promises – a premium mid-range experience at a budget price. The design is color-accurate and bright, which is sure to impress a lot of people. It has a modern design similar to Realme’s higher-priced smartphones. Also, the chipset has better gaming performance, considering the price. Even the battery and charging speed are excellent.
The hardware inside is really great and Realme has done a good job. The pricing is also okay but the competition is tough and other smartphones offer better specs at the same price or the same specs at a lower price. For example, the Nothing Phone (2a) is priced slightly higher but offers even faster build quality, design, display, camera, and performance than the Realme 13 Plus. However, the final decision is up to you so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your requirements and needs.
