The design of the ZTE Nubia Flip looks like a clone of Tecno’s Phantom V Flip phone. However, if you look closer, you will realize that they are very different. The ZTE Nubia Flip has a flat side frame with a flat rear panel, reminiscent of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5. The flat design provides a better grip and does not allow the phone to slide out unnecessarily.
The side and center frame are made of aluminum alloy, while the rear panel is made of glass. This flat glass and metal sandwich design provides a premium feel in your hand. Part of that premium experience is also due to its weight. The foldable phone only weighs 214 grams, much lighter than any other foldable phone. In addition, there are two screens on the smartphone, the main one and the cover one.
The main display of the smartphone is the 6.9-inch foldable OLED display with 120Hz high refresh rate support. On the other hand, the cover display consists of a 1.43-inch OLED display that can display vital information such as missed calls, messages and other notifications. Both displays have decent color accuracy and viewing content on the screen will be a pleasure.

There is a secondary 2MP depth sensor that allows the smartphone to capture portraits well. The selfie camera on the front consists of a 16MP sensor, which can take great selfies with perfect skin tones. They have a natural color tone and higher levels of detail.
As for video recording, the ZTE Nubia Flip can record at a maximum of 4K@30FPS from the rear cameras, while the selfie cameras can only record at a maximum of 1080P@30FPS. But there is no OIS or gyro-EIS for video stabilization systems.

Apart from that, the phone also has Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, NFC, GPS, stereo speakers, and a USB Type-C port for charging. Conclusion
The ZTE Nubia Flip has enough merits to stand on its own. It is a well-designed phone with all the right specifications in the right places to make the user experience quite good. There are quality components in every area of the smartphone, be it the design, display, performance, 5G camera or even the battery.
In fact, there are foldable smartphones with much better specs than this one, but they also cost much more. They were released at prices that are simply out of reach for mainstream users. That’s exactly what ZTE plans to change with this smartphone. Therefore, they price the smartphone below $500, making it affordable for most people.
Given all the specifications and features this smartphone offers, its price is justified. This level of price-performance ratio is a rarity in the foldable phone segment, making it a unique phone. However, there are compromises when the price is so low. This includes the lack of IP rating, screen protection, alternative camera lenses, and wireless charging.
A possible alternative to this smartphone would be none other than the Tecno Phantom V Flip, its maximum rival. It offers slightly better specs, cameras, and lighter weight, but is available at a high price. However, the final decision is up to you, so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your requirements and needs.
